LOREN, a.k.a. THE CARx DOCTOR
|
Born and raised in Port Orchard, WA, Loren has been working on motors of all kinds since he was a young boy. His career in automotive repair has led him to begin a number of businesses throughout the United States and Canada. While Loren performed duties as Owner and Manager, he never ceased working on vehicles as a Mechanic in order to maintain his hands-on skills. His desire for perfection combined with more than 27 years experience in the trade results in quality work that he takes pride in and thoroughly enjoys doing. With a thirst for knowledge, Loren continues to attend classes and trainings in order to keep up to date with modern technologies and the ever-changing automotive repair trade. Specifically, Loren traveled to New York where he acquired valuable experience that is unavailable anywhere else in the country. He did so by working on a variety of vehicles with the latest technologies in a fast-paced environment for approximately 15 years. During that time, Loren complemented his skill development with various trainings where he has earned the statuses of:
• New York State Automotive Technical Training Program Instructor
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Advanced Level Master Technician
• NYS Certified in Electronic Computer Diagnostics
• ASE Certified in Electronic Computer Diagnosis
• Certified Mobile Air Conditioning Technician
The designers of the Automotive Service Excellence Advanced Level Master Technician exam were so impressed by Loren's performance on the exam that they enlisted his help in designing the current test!
Loren resided in Friday Harbor prior to moving to New York and ran this business on a much smaller scale. Since that time, his goal was to return to the Island where he could live and support his family in the best way that he could while providing a needed service to the community.

GINA, a.k.a. MRS. CARx DOCTOR
|
While working in the Big Apple, Loren met native New Yorker, Gina, and they were married in September 2002. Since Loren maintained contact with and visited friends in Friday Harbor frequently, Gina was able to enjoy the Island in May of 2003. Her experience here prompted a conversation with Loren that basically went like this: “I don’t care what you need to do…I want to live in Friday Harbor, so move me there!“ Gina shared that she was impressed by the friendly people of the Island, the cleaner environment, lack of traffic, and the relaxed pace of life that did not exist in New York. Loren was thrilled to learn that his wife desired to move to the Island where he had been longing to return. Loren took charge of their joint goal and spent a full year planning the move and transition to San Juan Island. After 7,000 miles and 34 days of traveling the country, they arrived with Fred Dog in tow in May 2004.
Gina is a New York State Licensed and Certified Social Worker and has received her Masters Level Education at Hunter College School of Social Work. Despite that career path, she was eager for the opportunity to work with Loren and start a family business. She believes that her training as a Social Worker has enhanced her listening skills and ability to relate with customers and suppliers. Gina controls the paperwork, orders parts, schedules customers, and maintains the general flow of business. She likes to joke, "My Husband may be my Boss, but I am the PRESIDENT!" :)
